Approval for construction of 100 MW solar power plant in Tangail

Government approval has been received for setting up a solar power plant with a production capacity of 100 MW in Nakasim area of ā€‹ā€‹Kashil Union in Basail Upazila of Tangail.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement held on Wednesday (December 6) afternoon to approve the proposal to set up two power plants.
Among them, one at Basail in Tangail and one at Cox’s Bazar Sadar. The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the tariff of these two power plants.
Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Syed Mahbub Khan gave this information to reporters after the meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
Syed Mahbub Khan said that the construction of the power plant in Basail Upazila of Tangail has been jointly awarded by Renewable Energy UK Limited, Badal Construction and G-Tech Solutions Limited consortium. At 10 taka 99 paisa per kilowatt hour, the government will pay them approximately 3 thousand 561 crore 60 lakh taka.
He also said that KAI Bangladesh Aluminum Limited and Alltech Aluminum Industries Limited consortium jointly got the job of setting up solar power plant in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila. At 10 taka 98 paise per kilowatt hour, the government will pay them 3 thousand 556 crore 80 lakh taka.
In this regard, Kashil Union Parishad Chairman Md. Ramzan Mia said, approval of this power plant in Sayer Mouja of Nakasim village of Kashil Union is very happy for us. This power plant will create employment opportunities for many local people. Apart from this, I am hopeful that it will play a role in meeting the electricity needs of the people of the upazila.
Md. Badal Mia, proprietor of Badal Construction, said that the project has already been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement. Solar power production is being emphasized to protect the environment worldwide. The government has also emphasized here to achieve development targets and reduce energy imports. Its important partner is Badal Construction. It is a matter of great pleasure.
He also said, however, I have not yet received the written approval document. I will tell you the details when I get the paper. But I can say that if the project is implemented, many employment opportunities will be created in Kashil and Bassail Upazila.
