Touhid Hossain Sarkar,Comilla : Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Assembly elections, Kazi Deen Mohammad, the eleven-party alliance’s nominated parliamentary candidate for Comilla-6 constituency, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Comilla Metropolitan Ameer and Central Working Committee member, has announced a pledge to build a prosperous Comilla with the slogan “Let’s build Bangladesh together”.
His election manifesto was officially released on Saturday (February 7) morning. It outlined various plans to meet the basic needs of citizen life, including upgrading Comilla to a division, modern and environmentally friendly urbanization, and establishing an international airport.
In the manifesto, he promised to take the initiative to declare Comilla as a division with the name Comilla. He also mentioned the establishment of divisional offices considering the communication facilities of the districts of greater Comilla. Plans were outlined to build a modern, safe and environmentally friendly city by renovating important facilities in the city.
Initiatives to launch an international airport in Comilla, planned drainage systems, digging and cleaning canals and reservoirs, and establishing an international standard treatment plant for the management of toxic waste in EPZs have also received priority.
Big plan to ease traffic congestion.
The manifesto also includes initiatives to free sidewalks from encroachment, modernize the traffic system, build flyovers, underpasses and footbridges, stop illegal parking, and build a direct railway line between Comilla and Dhaka.
Commitment to the education sector Plans were announced to establish an engineering university in Comilla, develop the infrastructure of Comilla Zilla School and Faizunnesa Government School and increase the admission quota, establish a government high school and Kamil Madrasa in Sadar Dakshin, and build new technical educational institutions to make the youth skilled.
Development in healthcare.
There have been pledges to upgrade Comilla Sadar Hospital to 250 beds, build a specialized hospital for mothers and children, and build modern hospitals for cancer and heart disease treatment.
Infrastructure and river protection
There are plans to widen and strengthen the Chanpur Bridge on the Gomti River, build embankments on both banks of the river, and widen and renovate all roads.
Drug and terrorism prevention
It was announced that social and administrative prevention would be used to eradicate drugs, monitoring cells would be formed in educational institutions, and strict steps would be taken to stop terrorism and extortion.
Economy and employment It has been said that initiatives will be taken to establish an industrial economic zone in Comilla, a freelancing IT park, investment loans and interest-free loans for new entrepreneurs, ensure fair prices for agricultural products and supply fertilizers and seeds at low prices. The issue of introducing a safety net and health cards for workers was also mentioned.
Religious and social security there have been promises to provide development budgets for all religious institutions, ensure security during religious festivals, and ensure equal civil rights for people of all religions. There are also plans to protect the dignity of women, prevent eve-teasing, create women entrepreneurs, and build playgrounds for children.
Expatriates and the media Promises have been made to increase scholarships for the children of remittance fighters, provide security to expatriate families, train media workers, have an independent salary structure, and convert the Comilla Press Club building into a modern complex.
The predominance of youth in state governance, ensuring women’s safety, building a technology-based society, implementing the July Charter, and abolishing the fascist system have gained more importance in the election pledges.
