Almost all nomination papers of Kushtia district declared valid

After the scrutiny of the nomination papers of Kushtia-1, 2, 3 and 4 constituencies in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, the nomination papers of 27 out of a total of 34 candidates have been declared valid. In addition, the nomination papers of 6 candidates, including independent candidates, from Kushtia-1, 2 and 4 constituencies have been initially declared invalid.

On Sunday (January 4, 2026), on the afternoon of Sunday (January 4, 2026), the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md. Iqbal Hossain made this announcement after scrutinizing the nomination papers in the conference room of the Kushtia Deputy Commissioner’s office. At that time, the formal scrutiny process was completed in the presence of all political parties and independent candidates, as well as proposers and supporters of the concerned constituency.

The reason for the cancellation of the nominations was that the nomination papers of 6 candidates, including independent candidates, were initially rejected due to incorrect documents and discrepancies in the required information during the scrutiny.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jahangir Alam, District Election Officer Mahabubur Rahman and candidates, proposers and supporters of all parties were present in the nomination paper selection process.

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md. Iqbal Hossain said that during the verification and selection of four constituencies, the nomination papers of 6 candidates were cancelled due to errors in their documents. The nomination papers of 27 other candidates have been declared valid. However, the candidates whose nominations were cancelled can appeal within the stipulated time. All preparations for the election will be completed by the district administration within the stipulated time.
