All the patients at Al-Shifa Intensive Care Center (ICU), the largest hospital in Gaza, died after the Israeli forces completely blockaded it. On Friday (November 17), the director of the hospital, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, told the Qatar-based media Al Jazeera.
Earlier on Wednesday (November 15), ABC News of the United States reported that 43 of the 63 patients in the hospital’s ICU have died.
Abu Salmiya said that 7,000 people including patients, medical staff and shelters were trapped in the hospital. Doctors are still trying their best to serve patients. The hospital has become a large prison and mass grave as Israeli forces do not allow anyone to enter or leave.
He further said that the hospital has been under siege for three days. Now we have nothing. No fuel, no electricity, no food, no water. People are dying every moment.
The Gaza Ministry of Health says that the Israeli forces have made Al-Shifa Hospital their base, stating that the situation is very painful. The head of the plastic surgery department of the hospital. Ahmed Mokhallalati said that they were forced to bury the body in the hospital premises.
Meanwhile, the Israeli forces have indicated that they will attack in the south of Gaza. “We are committed to expanding our operations,” Israeli Defense Force (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Friday (November 17). Our operations will continue wherever Hamas is. We will even go to the south of Gaza. This operation will start only when the time is most suitable for our troops.
