It has been raining since 12 noon in Dhaka. Ignoring the rain, the leaders and activists of various organs of Awami League and affiliated organizations are coming to the old trade fair ground of Agargaon. The Agargaon area has already been filled with leaders and activists who came to participate in the Sudhi rally organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. Ignoring the obstacles of rain, leaders and activists from the capital and outside districts are bringing processions. When the torrential rain started in the area around 1:15 p.m., activists were seen taking shelter under trees and shops. Many people were seen taking positions under the metro rail line. 60-year-old Jasim Uddin from Jamalpur said, I came to Dhaka in the morning. I just came from my sister’s house in Mirpur. After coming, I got wet in the rain, our other leaders and activists also got wet. He said that the traffic congestion of the capital will be reduced as a result of the new Udal road. This is our pride. I have come from so far to listen to the speeches of the Prime Minister and party leaders. Ishtiaq Hossain Titas, president of Awami League, a unit of Shere-Bangla-Nagar, said, “We make Awami League by eating ourselves.” Storms and rains are nothing to us. Today is a great gift for the residents of the capital. Traffic congestion and human suffering will be removed through this elevated expressway. Anwar Hossain Anu, who came from Shyamoli in the capital, said, I have come to the event. After arriving, it started raining. There is no chance to stand. So I had to get wet. The Prime Minister’s car will enter the expressway from Kawla near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:30 pm. The Prime Minister will pay the toll at the toll plaza there. After that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will unveil the inaugural plaque and participate in prayers at the old trade fair ground in Agargaon around 4 pm. After that, the meeting will be held there.
