The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) advises and warns that dates should be washed thoroughly with water several times before consumption to remove pesticide and chemical residues present in dates.
The SFDA states that if the best methods and methods of date storage are not followed, the function will retain microorganisms and reduce the vital and oxidative processes of dates. Therefore, it is recommended to freeze dates at the lowest possible temperature, keeping in mind that freezing does not stop enzymatic activity as it ripens continues. It also states that refrigeration can be used for up to three months. This method requires the use of containers that are less exposed to moisture. Another method used to preserve dates is drying, the storage period can last up to one year. As a result, moisture is reduced, which prevents the growth of bacteria. According to the data, besides vitamins, dates contain sugars, sucrose, glucose, fructose, starch, protein, fiber and nutritious minerals such as potassium, sulphur, phosphorus, iron, sodium, zinc and magnesium.
