After winning the UP elections in Dumki of Patuakhali, there have been allegations of beatings, vandalism and looting of the opposition candidate’s family. The attack took place in the Lutheran area of Srirampur Union of the upazila around 8 pm on Monday. It is known that candidate Kabir Mridha, his brother Zakir Mridha, Bari Mridha and their children, who won the post of UP member (Member) in Ward No. 4 of Srirampur Union Parishad election, attacked the house of opponent Morag marker candidate Abdur Razzak (Raja Mridha) with around 150 workers. They ransacked houses and looted cash and gold. Candidate Abdur Razzak Mridha along with his wife and children were injured when they blocked the road. Later, the local people rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex. Injured UP member candidate Abdur Razzak said, the winning candidate Humayun Kabir Mridha along with his two brothers and their sons attacked my family with about 150 workers vandalized the house and the winning candidate’s son took my wife’s neck chain along with cash and mobile phone. Accused UP member Md. Humayun Kabir Mridha denied the allegation and said that everything is a fake play. They are blaming us by vandalizing their own houses after losing the election. In this regard, Dumki Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abul Bashar said, I have heard about the attack and if there is a complaint, action will be taken subject to investigation.
