As the first bank in the country, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKB) has successfully implemented the interest and principal repayment program of agricultural loans up to Tk 10,000 under the government’s special initiative to provide financial relief to small and marginal farmers. Under this program, a total of Tk 225 crore 74 lakh 99 thousand loans of 239 thousand 480 farmer families have been repaid through the government.
According to bank sources, under this program, Tk 178 crore 92 lakh 48 thousand loans of 1 lakh 88 thousand 825 farmer families of Rangpur division and Tk 46 crore 81 lakh 39 thousand loans of 50 thousand 655 farmer families of Rajshahi division have been repaid through the government.
The concerned said that the farmers who benefited from being freed from the burden of long-standing debt will get the opportunity to invest in agriculture again. It is expected that this will increase agricultural production, improve the financial capacity of farmers and have a positive impact on the rural economy.
The management authority of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank expressed gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for providing this special facility to farmers. RAKBANK has completed the activities in the fastest time by following the prescribed process to implement this initiative taken by the government for the welfare of farmers. RAKBANK has pledged to stand by the farmers by implementing various agriculture-friendly programs in the future as well.
