Two modern AC buses built under the own financing and management of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) have been inaugurated. Special Assistant to the Honorable Principal Advisor (Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges) Mr. Sheikh Moinuddin was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony organized at the Integrated Central Repair Factory in Gazipur today, Saturday at 11:30 am. Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque was present as the special guest at the ceremony and BRTC Chairman Mr. Abdul Latif Mollah presided over the ceremony.

In his speech as the chief guest, Mr. Sheikh Moinuddin said, “I am very happy and proud to be present at today’s event on the occasion of the inauguration of two modern AC buses manufactured in BRTC’s own factory. This is not just the inauguration of two new buses—it is a symbol of our capability.”
He also said that there is no alternative to increasing capacity to restore discipline in the country’s road management. BRTC must take the lead in this regard. He called for building that capacity so that in the future, not only its own fleet of buses but also external buses can be added here.

In his speech as the special guest, Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department, Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque said, “The construction of these two AC buses is just the beginning. We have to achieve the highest excellence in our talent and skills. There is a lot of scope for expansion of BRTC and we want to take the organization further. This is the beginning of a new era.”

In his speech as the president, BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Mollah said, BRTC is not just a transport organization, it is a full-fledged state service organization. This domestically built AC bus is a real example of the integrated capability built through its own training infrastructure, technical institutions and workshops. He said that despite the old fleet and increased costs, the activities of the organization are being kept running through improved management, technology-based monitoring and reduction of unnecessary costs. Currently, buses and trucks across the country are being monitored in real time from the central control room using the Vehicle Tracking System (VTS). The process of importing 340 advanced buses from Korea to modernize the fleet is in the final stages and plans have been made to add new trucks and coaster buses in the future.

Officials of various levels of the Road Transport and Highways Department, heads and representatives of the organization, top officials of BRTC and GMs and DGMs of various departments were present at the event.
