Natore District Awami League President and Member of Parliament of Natore-4 Constituency (Baraigram-Gurdaspur) heroic freedom fighter Professor Abdul Quddus passed away.
He died on Wednesday (August 30) around 7:30 am while undergoing treatment at the capital’s United Hospital. This was confirmed by his son Asif Abdullah bin Quddus Shobhan.
Upazila Awami League General Secretary Advocate Mizanur Rahman said that when he fell ill on Monday evening, he was given first aid at his residence and was quickly admitted to the United Hospital in the capital with necessary medical support. There her breathing was becoming difficult to control and her oxygen saturation was decreasing. As a result, he was taken to the ICU. He breathed his last there on Wednesday morning. His death has cast a shadow of mourning in the area.
Upazila Awami League President Abdul Quddus Miyaji said that he left behind a wife, a daughter and a son at the time of his death. He was nominated seven times by the Awami League from this seat and participated in the national parliament elections and was elected as a member of Parliament five times. In the Seventh National Parliament, he served as the State Minister of the Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Resources. Besides, he was serving as the president of the district Awami League for the second term. Besides, he was appointed as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education in the current term.
Natore District Awami League General Secretary Shariful Islam Ramzan said that the death of Abdul Quddus is not only a vacuum in the leadership of Natore Awami League, but the country has lost an efficient and experienced member of parliament. Who has played an important role in the development of education and infrastructure of this region.
Apart from this, people from various classes and professions including Nator-3 Member of Parliament Junaid Ahmed Palak, Nator-2 Member of Parliament Shafiqul Islam Shishul, Nator-1 Member of Parliament Shahidul Islam Bakul expressed their deep grief over his death.
