Two satins quarreled in Bauphal of Patuakhali It has been alleged that a 7-day-old child named Zubair died in the tug of war. The incident took place in Jamalkathi village of Dhalia union of the upazila. The police recovered the child’s body and sent it to Patuakhali Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
According to related sources, Zahirul Islam, son of Quader Chowdhury of that village, married Suma Akhter, daughter of Shafiuddin Talukdar of Patkathi village of Bakerganj upazila, without informing his first wife. A week ago, Suma Akhtar gave birth to a son. Since then, Zahirul stopped inquiring about Suma Akhtar and her child.
On Thursday morning, Suma Akhter came to her husband’s house with her 7-day-old child and found out that her husband had already married. At that time Zahirul’s first wife Shabnaz got angry because Suma stayed in her husband’s house. Suma was ordered to leave the house with the children by her satin Shabnaz. But as Suma did not agree to leave her husband’s family, there was a quarrel between the two women throughout the day. And
On Thursday evening, Shabnaz forcibly took Suma out of the house with her children. At this time, 7-day-old Zubair fainted in his mother’s lap due to the scuffle of the two children. Yuvair was quickly taken to a clinic in Kalishuri Bazar where the doctor on duty declared him dead. On receiving the information, the police recovered the body of the child and sent it to Patuakhali Hospital morgue.
The child’s mother Suma Akhter told reporters that Zahirul Islam married me long ago and kept it a secret from relatives. After I fell ill, my husband sent 5000 taka to Bikash for treatment and called me saying, you take the treatment, I am going to Tabligh Jamaat, I will inquire over the phone. After the birth of the child, I called her and said that I and my child are very sick, you should come. After that, Zahirul stopped all communication. Desperate, I went to my husband’s house. Today my child was dragged to death by his first wife. I want justice.
However, Suma Akhter’s Satin Shabnaz denied the allegations and said that the baby was born in 7 months. The child is suffering from malnutrition. They are trying to hang me by bringing a sick child.
Chairman of Dhulia Union Parishad Humayan Kabir said, after hearing such a news, I have sent the village police to the spot. Later I heard that the police came and took away the body of the child.
Atiqul Islam, Inspector (Investigation) of Bauphal Police Station said, the cause of death can be confirmed once the autopsy report is received.
