In this program organized on Tuesday (August 4) afternoon, saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees were planted from the premises of the Kurigram District Election Officer’s office to the premises of the Government Women’s College.

The program was attended by the chief guest, District Council Administrator Sohel Hossain Kaikobad. The special guests were Rezaul Karim, Assistant Director of the Kurigram Environment Department, Shahnaz Begum, Assistant Professor (Botany Department) of the Government College, and Saidul Abedin Dollar, businessman and social worker. School students participated in it.

Speakers at the event said that a tree not only makes the environment green, but is also closely related to people’s lives and livelihoods. There is no alternative to large-scale tree plantation to address the current climate crisis. Therefore, every citizen should plant at least one tree and ensure its proper care.

Tree lover Anwar said, “Today’s tree is the foundation of a safe environment for the next generation. If we all come forward to plant trees from our respective positions, then the country will be greener and more livable.” He expressed his determination to continuously conduct such environmentally friendly programs in the future as well.

At the end of the program, the guests called for continuing such programs in the future, calling such initiatives timely and commendable.
