‘July Martyrs’ Day-2026′ was celebrated with due dignity in Lalmonirhat with deep respect for the heroic martyrs of the July Revolution. On Thursday (July 16), the district administration organized a wreath-laying ceremony at the July Memorial in the city and a discussion meeting in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
At 10 am, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Muh. Rashedul Haque Pradhan, district administration officials, July fighters and martyr family members paid tribute to the martyrs by placing wreaths at the July Memorial.
Then, wreaths were laid by the District Police under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman and the District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque on behalf of the District Council. Besides, various government departments and educational institutions including the Civil Surgeon’s Office, Lalmonirhat Municipality, Sadar Upazila Administration, Department of Agriculture Extension, Department of Livestock, Public Works Department, Department of Fisheries, BRDB, LGED, Department of Social Services, Ansar and VDP, District Education Office, Water Development Board, Regional Passport Office, District Information Office, Department of Environment, BADC (Irrigation) paid tribute.
Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Russell Mia delivered a welcome speech at the discussion meeting held in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.
Alam Badsha, Mahmudul Hasan Ratan, Biplob Hossain, Member Secretary of Warriors of July Md. Mosharraf Hossain and Convener Russell Mahmud recited remembrances on behalf of the July warriors at the meeting.
 On behalf of the martyr’s family, Md. Mejbahul Islam, younger brother of Shaheed Merajul Islam, Md. Jannatul Ferdous, mother of Shaheed Rajib ul Karim Sarkar, and Md. Afroza Khanam, mother of Shaheed Shahriar Al Afroz Shraban, expressed their feelings.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Dr. Md. Saikhul Arefin, Principal of Lalmonirhat Government College Professor Abu Imam Md. Rashedunnabi, Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim, District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque and Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman also spoke at the discussion meeting.
In his speech as the chairman, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Muh. Rashedul Haque Prodhan said, “The sacrifice of the martyrs of the July Revolution is a unique chapter in national history. Their great contribution has further strengthened our path to independence and democracy. The nation will forever remember them with respect.”
Officials from various government and private departments, July fighters, family members of martyrs, journalists, and local dignitaries were present at the event.
