July Martyrs’ Day was celebrated in Thakurgaon with due dignity and humble respect. On Thursday, at 9 am, organized by the district administration, the district administration, district police superintendent, civil surgeon, district council, Thakurgaon municipality, freedom fighter command, July mass uprising fighters and martyr family members and various organizations paid their humble tributes to the martyrs by offering floral tributes separately at the July memorial in the old bus stand square of the city. Finally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. Superintendent of Police Belal Hossain, July fighters and others spoke under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Haque. At the July Martyrs’ Day discussion meeting, he remembered with deep respect the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the July Movement and the selfless sacrifice of all the martyrs, including Abu Sayeed, the first martyr of the July-August mass uprising. He said that everyone should work unitedly in building the country by keeping in mind the spirit of their sacrifice. Expressing his determination to contribute to their memory, he said that the sacrifice of the martyrs of the July Movement will be forever remembered in the struggle to establish democracy and human rights in the country. He called on everyone to work together to build a democratic and humane Bangladesh without discrimination by keeping in mind their ideals. Officials at various levels, political leaders, local representatives of the anti-discrimination student-people’s movement and other professionals were present at the meeting.
