Md. Shahriar Ripon, Chittagong Bureau : Global shipping giant CMA CGM highly appreciated Chairman Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman’s groundbreaking success in modernization and digitalization of Chittagong Port
Chittagong, July 11, 2026: An unprecedented change has been achieved in the activities of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), the economic driving force of Bangladesh, through modernization, digitalization and environmentally friendly sustainable development. Due to the visionary and courageous leadership of the port chairman Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman, the operational capacity of the port has increased manifold in the last six months. In view of this outstanding success, global shipping logistics giant ‘CMA CGM’ has expressed its unwavering support and high appreciation for the various initiatives taken by the port authority.
Recently, a high-level delegation of CMA CGM held a bilateral meeting with Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority. During the meeting, Julien LECUYER, Network Manager, Asia-Pacific, CMA CGM, sent a formal e-mail message praising the Chairman’s vision for the future of the maritime sector and accelerating economic growth in Bangladesh.
Key achievements and initiatives implemented under the leadership of Chairman Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman include:
● Reduction in ship turnaround time: In the last six months, it has been possible to significantly reduce the turnaround time of ships at the port through groundbreaking measures.
● Digitalization and e-gate pass: Electronic e-gate pass has been successfully introduced to bring dynamism to the security and operations of the port.
● Paperless Modern Processes: Paperless processes have been strengthened in office and port management, which has brought transparency and speed to the overall operations.
● Waste Management and Environmental Protection: The current Chairman has given special emphasis on waste management and addressing environmental challenges to protect the marine environment and build a sustainable port. Initiatives have been taken to work in coordination with international partners for this purpose.
After the meeting, the CMA CGM delegation expressed full solidarity with the Chairman’s commitment for the welfare of the country’s economy and people. At the same time, the company expressed its strong hope to work very closely with the Chittagong Port Authority to implement these ambitious and modern plans for the maritime sector of Bangladesh and to maintain partnership through the use of global networks.
Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman’s dynamic leadership and digitalization projects have not only increased the operational efficiency of Chittagong Port, but also taken the image of Bangladesh’s maritime trade to a new height in the international arena.
