Trawler sinks in the sea: Galachipa Upazila Administration stands by the families of the affected fishermen

Md. Zillur Rahman Jewel, Galachipa: The Upazila Administration stands by the families of the affected fishermen who were caught in the trawler sinking while fishing in the deep sea from Panpatti Launch Ghat in Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali. Financial assistance checks and dry food items have been delivered to the families of the missing and rescued fishermen.
On Tuesday (July 7), despite the adverse weather, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Abujor Md. Ijazul Haque went to the homes of the affected families to inquire about them and provided assistance on behalf of the administration.
According to Upazila Administration sources, there were 11 fishermen on the trawler that was going to fish in the deep sea. Although 5 of them were rescued alive, 6 are still missing. Each of the 11 families affected by this incident has been provided with financial assistance checks of Tk 7,500 and dry food items.

UNO Abujor Md. Ijazul Haque said, “Under the instructions of State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque Nur and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury, checks worth Tk 7,500 and dry food have been delivered to each affected family. The administration is always by their side.”
He further said that the operation of the concerned authorities to rescue the 6 missing fishermen is ongoing and overall cooperation from the administration will continue.

At that time, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Zahirul Nabi, State Minister’s representative Md. Abu Naim, Upazila Engineer, Upazila Public Rights Council Convener Md. Hafizur Rahman, local UP Chairman and other dignitaries were present.
