As part of the ongoing nationwide cleanliness drive, a special cleanliness drive and tree plantation program was held at Shankarpasha Union Health and Family Welfare Center No. 7 of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila. The program was organized on Saturday (July 4) at the center premises. This initiative has been taken to protect the balance of the environment and make the environment of the health center more modern and healthy for patients.
​Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid was present as the chief guest. He toured the surroundings of the health center and officially inaugurated the program by planting a sapling himself.
​After the cleanliness drive, saplings of various species of fruit trees were planted in the vacant land around the health center. Out of these, 9 coconut trees and 2 malta saplings, a total of 11 trees were planted.
Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Family Planning Officer Md. Sohag Hossain and Shankarpasha Union Health and Family Welfare Center Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer (SACMO) Krishna Sutar were present at the program.
Local public representatives present at the program included Md. Fazlul Haque, acting chairman of Shankarpasha Union Parishad No. 7, UP Secretary Md. Delwar Hossain and UP member of Ward No. 3 Md. Delwar Hossain Kazi. In addition, local civil society and health center staff participated spontaneously in this great initiative.
Speaking as the chief guest, Upazila Executive Officer Mamunur Rashid said,
​”As part of the cleanliness drive that is conducted every Saturday to prevent various mosquito-borne and infectious diseases including dengue, chikungunya, and others, as per the government’s instructions, we have conducted this activity at Shankarpasha Union Health Center today. This cleanliness drive is ongoing throughout the upazila with the joint participation of the local people, public representatives, and all concerned.”
​”To ensure a healthy environment and to stay away from the attacks of diseases and germs, I urge people from all walks of life to make this cleanliness drive a success. In addition, we will quickly fill the small pond next to the health center. After cleaning the garbage, a beautiful garden and good arrangements will be made for the service recipients to sit there, so that the common people can come here and receive services in a comfortable and healthy environment. Development activities will be undertaken very soon for this purpose.”
