Lalmonirhat Three ministers visit Teesta Barrage to review progress of Teesta project

Three government ministers have visited the Teesta Barrage area between Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat to review the progress of river erosion, flood control and ongoing development activities in the Teesta river basin.
Water Resources Minister Md. Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu and State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad reached the Teesta Barrage area on June 19 afternoon.
As per the official tour schedule, the ministers and state ministers visited Teesta Barrage and various areas around it. Later, they participated in an important exchange of views with senior officials of the Water Development Board (PAUBO) at the Teesta Retirement Hall.
The meeting discussed in detail the long-standing river erosion problem of the Teesta basin, sustainable flood control, river governance activities and the progress of ongoing development projects. The concerned officials highlighted the current status and future plans of various projects.
At that time, Barrister Hasan Rajib Pradhan, Member of Parliament for Lalmonirhat-1 constituency, Rokon Uddin Babul, Member of Parliament for Lalmonirhat-2 constituency, senior officials of the Ministry of Water Resources, party leaders and activists of Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat districts, as well as administrators and officials at various levels of administration were present.
The concerned people hope that if the government’s ongoing initiatives for preventing river erosion, flood management and infrastructural development in the Teesta basin are implemented, the quality of life and security of the people of this region will further improve.
