Jhalokati Sadar Hospital is facing a saline shortage due to the gradual increase in the number of dengue patients. In such a situation, Jhalokati District Jubo Dal convener Md. Shamim Talukder donated 100 saline bottles with his own funds to help treat dengue patients. During his visit to Sadar Hospital on Tuesday, he handed over the saline bottles to the hospital’s superintendent Dr. Masum Iftekhar.
According to hospital sources, 207 dengue patients have received treatment at Jhalokati Sadar Hospital so far this year. Currently, 7 dengue patients are admitted to the hospital. As the number of patients is increasing, the demand for saline has also increased.
The hospital’s Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Mehedi Hasan Sunny, Service Supervisor Akhtara Khanam, President of Jhalakathi Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Center Owners Association Khandaker Jahirul Islam Badal, General Secretary Al Mamun Khalifa, Senior Vice President Shafiqul Islam Rana and General Secretary of Jhalakathi District Pharmacy Owners Association Saidul Islam and others.
At this time, Md. Shamim Talukder said, “One of my younger brothers called and informed me about the saline shortage at Sadar Hospital. After learning about the matter, I provided 100 salines with my own funds considering the dengue patients. I will provide more assistance if needed in the future.”
Hospital Supervisor Dr. Masum Iftekhar and RMO Dr. Mehedi Hasan Sunny welcomed this humanitarian initiative and said, “Such assistance will play an important role in ensuring medical services to patients in the dengue situation. I urge the wealthy and humanitarian people of the society to also come forward in this way.
