Conference on possibility of setting up one-stop solution center in Dinajpur

A day-long conference was held on the possibility of setting up a one-stop solution center (OSSC) in Dinajpur to ensure integrated services for the elderly and disabled. The conference was organized by Caritas Bangladesh, Dinajpur region on Monday (June 8) at the Praveen Hallroom of the Caritas Auditorium under the SDDB project.

The conference was presided over by Caritas Bangladesh, Dinajpur Regional Director Robi Mardi. Deputy Director of Dinajpur District Social Services Office Md. Abdul Matin was present as the chief guest. Assistant Director of District Social Services Office Md. Munir Hossain and Disability Affairs Officer of Protibandhi Service and Support Center, Dinajpur Mehedi Hasan spoke as special guests.

Binoy Kujur, Junior Project Officer of Dinajpur Region of RDRS Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech and conducted the program. Project Accountant Vishal Ganguly presented the project’s goals, objectives and activities through a projector.

Abu Shah Newaz of the Disabled and Autistic School, Yadav Chandra Roy, Executive Director of the CDC, Naznin Akhter, Head Teacher of the Deaf Institute, Md. Yakub Ali, Executive Director of Mamata Rural Development Organization, Tamjida Parveen Seema, President of Sampriti Disabled Development Organization, Md. Ashraf Ali, Executive Director of Uttaran Disabled Development Organization, and Bilkis Ara Faiz, Executive Director of Disabled Schools and Rehabilitation Organization, and representatives of various organizations participated in the open discussion.

In his speech as the chief guest, Md. Abdul Matin said, “The issue of establishing a one-stop solution center should not be limited to possibilities, but effective initiatives should be taken for its implementation. The elderly population should not be considered a burden on society, but their experience should be valued as an asset for development.” He further said that the government is implementing various programs for the welfare of persons with disabilities and is working to ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery.

In his speech as the president, Ravi Mardi said, “A One-Stop Solution Center is a service center where a person can get various necessary information, advice and services from one place easily and quickly. We are working with the aim of making this concept of ‘all services at one door’ a reality.”

The participants of the conference highlighted the importance of establishing a One-Stop Solution Center to make healthcare, social security, information access and rehabilitation activities for the elderly and persons with disabilities easier and more effective. Representatives of relevant government and non-government organizations, disability organizations, journalists and members of civil society were present at the time.
