Two brothers have gone missing after bathing in Dharla river in Lalmonirhat.
The incident took place on Sunday (June 7) afternoon in the Zero Point area of ​​Mogolhat Union in Sadar Upazila.
The two missing are Sabbir Hossain, a ninth-grade student, son of Helal Hossain from Mogolhat Tempu Stand area of ​​the same upazila, and Sawon Hossain, an eighth-grade student. Both of them are students of the local Mogolhat High School.
Police and locals said that the two brothers, Sabbir and Sawon, were bathing in the Dharla river with their friend Mehedi. At that time, the two brothers suddenly drowned and disappeared.
However, Mehedi was able to get to the shore. On receiving the news, the locals and BGB members of Mogolhat camp launched a rescue operation.
Later, members of the Lalmonirhat Fire Service joined the rescue operation. When they failed to find them in any way, the Rangpur diving team was informed. The rescue operation was ongoing till the filing of this report, but they were not found.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saad Ahmed said that officers were sent to the spot after receiving the information. The police are also assisting in the rescue operation.
