Consumer Rights Campaign in Manikganj: Three Organizations Fined Tk 65,000

A total of Tk 65,000 has been fined to three organizations for various irregularities in the campaign of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department in Manikganj.

The day-long campaign was conducted by Asaduzzaman Rumel, Assistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, in different areas of Sadar Upazila on Tuesday (May 12).

During the campaign, evidence of various irregularities was found at an ice cream factory named Sheikh Food Products in Atigram area of ​​Sadar Upazila. The organization was fined Tk 25,000 in this incident.

In addition, the allegation of under-metering of fuel oil at the Zarifa filling station in Katigram area was confirmed. The campaign showed that 175 milliliters less than 5 liters of fuel was being dispensed. The organization was fined Tk 30,000 for this crime.

On the other hand, Abdus Salam, an oil seller in Atigram Bazar, was fined Tk 10,000 for selling fuel oil without valid documents.

At the same time, a raid was also conducted on a Rupchanda soybean oil dealer in Dudhbazar area of ​​Manikganj city. However, the company was warned as no major irregularities were found.

Assistant Director Asaduzzaman Rumel told the media in this regard, “Such raids will be conducted regularly by the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate to protect the interests of consumers and maintain order in the market.”
