Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, “My efforts are continuing to ensure the development and citizen services of Rajshahi. I want to continue working to implement the hopes and aspirations of the city residents. Our goal is to make Rajshahi a greener, more beautiful, healthier and peaceful city with the overall cooperation of everyone.”
He said these things at a view exchange meeting with leaders of Rajshahi Barendra Press Club at the Sarit Duttgupta meeting room of Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday (May 12) afternoon.
In the meeting, leaders of Barendra Press Club presented their proposals on various issues including city development, citizen services, sidewalk encroachment clearance, and industrialization and employment.
The RASC Administrator listened to their statements carefully and assured to take necessary steps in phases.
In the meeting, the RASIC Administrator said, “Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has given me the opportunity to serve the city residents. Currently, Rajshahi is being called the city of flowers. Since I took charge, I have ensured the care of trees and regular water supply. A major plan has been taken to plant more than three lakh trees in the city during the upcoming monsoon season. In addition, on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, eco-friendly bags and bleaching powder will be provided to the city residents.”
Regarding the increase in civic amenities, he further said that work is underway to clean drains to eliminate waterlogging, spray foggers to kill mosquitoes, and identify and repair potholes on roads. Various new schemes are being implemented to enhance the beauty of the city.
Mentioning the success of health services, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, “We have taken effective steps to prevent measles and rubella from the very beginning. We were the first among the city corporations to prepare public awareness leaflets and distribute them door to door. As a result, we have been able to meet the 100 percent target in measles and rubella vaccination.”
When the RASC administrator asked for the cooperation of media workers in the development of Rajshahi, the leaders of the Barendra Press Club expressed their commitment to provide all-round cooperation.
They said that it is possible to decorate this city beautifully only by working shoulder to shoulder.
The meeting was attended by Rajshahi Barendra Press Club President Md. Rezaul Karim, General Secretary Md. Shamsul Islam, Founding President Abu Kawsar Makhon, Presidium Member Al Amin Hossain, Senior Vice President Alauddin Mandal and Vice President Md. Rahmat Ullah.
Also present were Organizing Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Jibon, Treasurer Mamunur Rahman, Office Secretary Sultanul Arefin Khan Nihal, Publicity and Publication Secretary Nazmul Haque, Sports and Cultural Secretary Monowar Hossain, and Executive Members Akhter Hossain Hira, Masud Parvez and Mashiur Rahman, along with other members of the club’s executive committee and general members.
