A H Liton, Thakurgaon Correspondent: A human chain program has been held by medical representatives in Thakurgaon demanding a safe working environment and protecting the dignity of the profession. An hour-long protest human chain program was held on the premises of Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital on Monday (May 11, 2026) afternoon at the initiative of the Managers Forum to demand safe employment, protecting the dignity of the profession, ensuring a safe working environment, and stopping harassment and unwanted obstacles in the workplace. District Faria President Abu Sayem, Secretary Mahitosh Roy, Managers Forum President Salehin, Secretary Mosaddek Hossain and others spoke at the program. The speakers in the protest program said that although representatives play an important role in the health of the country, they are often faced with various obstacles and undervalued in the workplace. They said that they have contributed a lot to the development of the health sector. Therefore, as part of professionalism, they maintain contact with doctors in government and private hospitals and diagnostic centers and inform them about all aspects of modern medical science, the effectiveness, dosage, side effects and proper usage rules of new medicines. Moreover, while performing their professional duties, they are subjected to underestimation, humiliation and fraud, and are informed as brokers. This not only undermines their professional dignity but also causes social defamation. As a result, the families are mentally disturbed. In their speech, they demanded that necessary policies be implemented to create a safe and healthy work environment, and they called for a dynamic role in taking kind intervention and effective steps. On these incidents, protest human chain programs were held on the main roads of Pirganj, Ranisankail, Haripur, Baliadangi upazila towns that day. Finally, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the upazila administration.
