Members of the advisory board of the committee and local members of parliament (MPs) expressed anger and dissatisfaction against drug smuggling and smuggling at the meeting of the District Law and Order Committee in Mymensingh. At this time, they demanded effective steps to stop drug smuggling and smuggling.
The meeting was held from morning to noon at the conference room of the Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Saifur Rahman under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Saifur Rahman.
At the meeting, Salman Omar Rubel, MP from Mymensingh-1 (Haluaghat-Dhobaura) constituency, said that the BGB is working to secure the border area, the police are not able to go there. But Indian cows are being smuggled regularly through various borders of Haluaghat and Dhobaura upazilas. At this time, drugs are being smuggled by hanging them around the necks of cows. Border security must be strengthened immediately and drugs and smuggling must be stopped.
At this time, Mymensingh-8 (Ishwarganj) constituency MP Engineer Lutfullahel Majed said that drugs have created a dangerous situation in the current society. In this case, it is not enough to just catch drug users, but dealers and smugglers must be brought under the law. For this, it is very important to conduct regular and effective campaigns against drugs in every upazila of the district.
Then, the meeting decided to conduct a task force campaign and increase the anti-drug mobile court campaign to curb the trend of drug use and stop drug sales. In addition, it was decided to increase the coordination between the BGB and the local administration to prevent smuggling and drug shipments at the border, calling for the village police to be more active to prevent theft and robbery at the upazila and village levels.
At this time, it was informed that the law enforcement agencies are active in order to control the law and order situation in the district and to suppress crime overall. In addition, necessary activities are continuing to take legal measures and increase social awareness to strictly suppress other sensitive crimes including murder, sexual harassment, acid throwing and banditry.
In the meeting, DC Md. Saifur Rahman said that there is no doubt that the administration is working relentlessly to control the law and order situation in the district. However, more efforts must be made to suppress crime at the local level. Especially, everyone must work against drugs regardless of party affiliation.
Also present at the meeting were Mymensingh District Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Ashraful Karim, District Bar Association President Ed. Nurul Haque, General Secretary Momruzul Hasan Jewel, PP Ed. Anwarul Aziz Tutul, district and upazila administration officials and members of the law and order committee.
