UP Chairman Mukul arrested in Debidwar in two murder cases during anti-discrimination movement

The police have arrested Moqbal Hossain Mukul Chairman, the accused in the murder case of Comilla’s Debidwar Upazila Sechchhasebak Dal leader Abdur Razzak Rubel and Chhatra Dal leader Sabbir Ahmed during the anti-discrimination movement. He was arrested from the Gunaighar Union Parishad of the upazila at 10:30 am on Monday (May 4). He is the chairman of that Union Parishad and the son of the deceased Idris Mia of the same village.
According to the case and local sources, Upazila Sechchhasebak Dal leader Abdur Razzak Rubel was shot dead by Awami terrorists in Debidwar, Comilla during the 2024 anti-discrimination movement, and Chhatra Dal leader Sabbir Ahmed died a month later from gunshot wounds. UP Chairman Moqbal Hossain Mukul was named as the accused in those two cases. After the government fell in the movement, he fled and the acting chairman was given to panel chairman Mohiuddin Mahmud. On Monday, after receiving news that he had come to the union parishad, a police team led by Debidwar Police Station OC Moniruzzaman carried out a raid and arrested him. In this regard, Debidwar Police Station OC Moniruzzaman said, Moqbal Hossain Mukul is an accused in all the cases, including two murder cases, in the anti-discrimination movement. He was arrested on Monday and will be sent to the Comilla court today.
