3 killed in road accident in Mymensingh, 5 in critical condition

Three women were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered autorickshaw and a sand-laden truck in Muktagachha, Mymensingh. The tragic accident occurred in the Mantala Samity Ghar area of ​​the upazila on Monday (May 4) afternoon. According to eyewitnesses and police sources, three people died on the spot when the speeding autorickshaw leaving from Jamalpur collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction. Locals rescued five more people in critical condition and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Muktagachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Islam said that all the deceased were women; however, their identities could not be immediately confirmed. The police are currently working to recover the bodies and identify the victims. Locals believe that the accident was caused by the excessive speed of the autorickshaw. Rescue operations and the process of normalizing traffic are currently underway in the accident-hit areas.
