Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon: A man named Biswajit Karmakar (66) committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Madhuchhari area of ​​Ward No. 8 of Wagga Union No. 5 of Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati. The incident took place at around 1 pm on Wednesday (April 1), said UP member of Ward No. 8, Amal Kanti De. Biswajit Karmakar, who committed suicide, is the son of the deceased Hare Krishna Karmakar of that area. UP member Amal Kanti De further said that Biswajit Karmakar’s only son died a long time ago. Currently, only his wife is at home. He suffered a stroke about a year ago. Since then, he could not see and was unable to move. It is believed that he may have committed suicide due to physical illness and mental breakdown.
Kaptai Police Station OC Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan Rubel confirmed the incident and said that Biswajit Karmakar’s body will be sent to Rangamati General Hospital for autopsy tomorrow, Thursday morning. Legal action will be taken later.
