A meeting was held with the leaders of the newly formed convening committee of Pirojpur District BNP and members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Lawyers Forum, District Unit. The meeting was held at the District BNP office at 11 am on Saturday (October 4). District BNP convener Nazrul Islam Khan was the chief guest at the meeting. Nationalist Lawyers Forum District Unit convener Advocate Nizam Uddin Sardar presided over the meeting. BNP Central Executive Committee member and District BNP Joint Convener Elijah Zaman was present as the special guest. District BNP member secretary Saidul Islam Kismat spoke as the main speaker. Forum district branch member secretary Advocate Akram Ali Mollah moderated the meeting. Advocate Monirul Islam Monir, SM Rezaul Islam Shamim, Khairul Basar Shamim, Rahima Akter Hasi and former Chhatra Dal leader Khairul Islam Babu also spoke. The speakers said that the Nationalist Lawyers Forum should be made stronger and more organized than in the past. They said that lawyers should play a leading role in making BNP win the next national election under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. The speakers also said that the courage and humanity with which lawyers stood by BNP leaders and activists during the repression and political cases is commendable. They expressed gratitude to the forum for this. In an emotional moment in the meeting, former acting president of the district Chhatra Dal Khairul Islam Babu said, when we were in prison on false political cases, even family members did not get a chance to meet us. But the leaders of the district lawyers forum regularly inquired, provided legal assistance and made relentless efforts for our release.
