The BNP leader held a press conference in protest against the news published in several national and online newspapers and social media about the ownership of a brick kiln about Khulna Dighlia Upazila BNP convener Md. Saifur Rahman Mintu.
The press conference was organized by the Upazila, Union BNP and its affiliated organizations at the Dighlia Upazila BNP office on Sunday (September 21) at 11 am. The leaders of the Upazila Convener Committee, the President and General Secretary of 4 Union BNP and the affiliated organizations were present and expressed strong condemnation, protest and anger against the news published.
In a written statement, he said, for 17 long years, I have kept the flag of Bangladeshi nationalism flying high on the roads of Dighlia Upazila and Khulna district by enduring false cases, imprisonment and oppression. Since the fall of fascist Hasina on 5th August 2024, some evil circles have been trying to hinder my popularity and political progress by spreading various kinds of slander, fake news in various newspapers and even videos through fictional edits and super edits on social media. I started my political life inspired by the ideals of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman through Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal since 1987. From the beginning to the present, I have been serving as the Organizing Secretary, General Secretary, President of BNP Dighlia Upazila, Joint Convener of Khulna District BNP and most recently as the Convener of Dighlia Upazila BAP. I have taught at Senhati Government Secondary School and Ayetun Necha Girls Secondary School with great reputation. I completed H, S, C and Honours from Government Brajlal University College and Master’s from Sir Azam Khan Commerce College.
He further said that a few days ago, a news regarding the ownership of a brick kiln was published in some national newspapers, online newspapers and social media about me and a video of the settlement meeting in the investigation room of the OC of the police station. It was alleged that there was an ongoing dispute between the owner of Nagarghat Market and Godown, businessman Khalil Matubbar and Salim Reza alias Abdar, and BNP leader Mintu Molya regarding the brick kiln. It was further alleged that Mintu Molya took bricks worth 10 lakh taka from Hedayet. Which is completely false and fabricated, in fact, there is no owner of a brick kiln by the name of Hedayet. I am clearly stating that both Khalil Matubbar and Abdar are close relatives (brother-in-law/sister-in-law) and business partners. I have no business or political relationship with these two people. The said Khalil Matubbar is an influential member and financier of the fallen fascist Hasina’s Awami League. A first-class fraudster in the area and involved in numerous women’s scams. The proof of which is being circulated in the area through his business partner Abdar. He also said, the news also alleges that I am not following the party’s instructions, but the matter complained about in this news is an incident that happened about a month before the party’s instructions came, I am saying it in an unambiguous voice, I am not an arbitrator in this incident. As the plaintiff mentioned me as a witness, I appeared as a witness at the invitation of the officer-in-charge and OC of the Dighlia police station. Seeing my presence at the scene, the defendant Khalil got excited and started talking dirty. However, at different times, attempts have been made to present me as the godfather of land grabbers and terrorists in front of the administration and the common people in a false and motivated manner, hiding the truth.
He also said, “I have been conducting social and political activities as an honest and worker-friendly leader in my long political life. In 2014, I contested as the chairman of Dighalia Upazila. My victory was snatched away because of government power. I want to stand by the common people and take you with me to implement the 31-point plan ordered by national hero Tarique Rahman and strengthen the hand of the leader of the people of this region, Azizul Bari Helal.”
He strongly condemned and protested this false news and requested journalists to be more careful in publishing news in the future.
