Mrs. Alhaj Afula Khatun (85), wife of the late Haji Saru Mia, a prominent businessman of the traditional Companiganj Bazar in Muradnagar and mother of Muradnagar Upazila BNP senior convener Haji Idris, has passed away. She breathed her last at her home at 10:40 am on Saturday (June 22) due to old age (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). She is survived by numerous relatives, including 4 daughters and 1 son. The funeral was held at the Gunjar Samiti ground after Maghrib prayers on the same day. She was later buried in the family graveyard. Before the funeral, conducted by Md. Zakir Hossain, the honorable former State Minister for Religion of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, spoke over the phone in a discussion on the deceased’s working life. Muradnagar Upazila BNP Member Secretary Mujib Molla, Alhaj Abdul Alim Master, Professor A.N. Ilyas, Amir, Muradnagar Upazila, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Yusuf Sohel, former Upazila Vice Chairman, Muradnagar Upazila Parishad, Maulana Rahmatullah Al-Faisal and thousands of religious devotees from different walks of life participated in the funeral.
