Rajbari District Task Force receives ‘National Award for Tobacco Control-2025

Rajbari District Task Force received ‘National Award for Tobacco Control-2025’ in the “District Task Force” category. Rajbari Deputy Commissioner and District Task Force President Sultana Akhter received the award crest and certificate. The District Task Force Committee for the Implementation of Tobacco Control Act in Rajbari district, led by Rajbari Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Sultana Akhter, was awarded ‘National Award for Tobacco Control-2025’ by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for its commendable contribution to tobacco control activities. Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhter was present as the President of the District Task Force Committee while Rajbari Civil Surgeon Dr. S. M. Masud was present as the Member Secretary of the Committee along with the President of the District Task Force Committee.

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, on May 31, at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital Dhaka, the chief guest of the event organized by the National Tobacco Control Cell of the Health Services Department, Nurjahan Begum, Health and Family Welfare Advisor of the Interim Government, handed over the crest and certificate to Sultana Akhter, Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari and President of the District Task Force.
At that time, Farida Akhter, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, were present as special guests at the event.

The event was chaired by Saidur Rahman, Secretary of the Health Services Department, and Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, Md. Abu Zafar, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, and Rajesh Narwal, a high-level official of the World Health Organization, Bangladesh. Sheikh Momena Moni, Additional Secretary of the Global Health Division of the Health Services Department, delivered the welcome speech at the event.

Sultana Akhter, Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari and President of the Tobacco Control District Task Force Committee, said, “Any achievement increases the enthusiasm for work. Today’s honor and achievement are not mine alone. This achievement belongs to the entire district. We, the people of Rajbari, will work as a team and take the district forward.”
