Md. Nur Islam Noyon:
Dinajpur Correspondent || There have been allegations that students who were protesting on the Ekta Express train were pushed off the train on their way back after a program organized to demand a ban on the Awami League. In this incident, angry students blocked the train at Dinajpur station on Sunday evening. Later, the train left for Panchagarh at 8:55 pm
The complaining students said that 17 students who participated in the July movement participated in the program organized in Dhaka last Saturday. They left for Panchagarh on the Ekta Express at 10:15 am on Sunday. When the TTE wanted to see their tickets on the way, the students said that they did not get a chance to buy tickets in a hurry. Although they offered to pay the fare through bKash, the TTE advised them to get off the train at Sirajganj station and take a bus.
When the tickets were asked again at Sirajganj station, a policeman and TTE Wasibur Rahman Shuvo allegedly pushed the students off the train.
A student named Russell Islam fell and injured his elbow. Later, they boarded the train again.
Student Farhad Hossain said, “The TTE and the policeman behaved indecently with us by questioning why we went to Dhaka. This is a planned and politically influenced incident by the Awami League. We demand their punishment.” Denying the allegations, TTE Wasibur Rahman said, “No one was pushed off the train.”
Acting Superintendent of Dinajpur Railway Station Ziaur Rahman said, “The students have filed a written complaint. The matter has been reported to the higher authorities. Preparations are underway to form an investigation committee. Legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.”
