Advisor on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Ambassador (Retd) Mr. Supradeep Chakma said that the current government is working relentlessly to continue the journey of peace, harmony, development and progress in the lives of the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Advisor Supradeep Chakma made these remarks during a courtesy call on British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ms. Sarah Cooke at the office of the Advisor to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka today.
In this special meeting, Advisor Ambassador (Retd.) Mr. Supradeep Chakma further said that the current government is giving more importance to the expansion of modern technology-based education in the country. He said that measures are now being taken to ensure quality education in the hilly regions. This government is taking projects to create multimedia classrooms, provide distance learning through satellite system, and construct hostel buildings for the students in remote areas to stay and continue their studies without any hindrance.
Advisor Ambassador (Retd.) Mr. Supradeep Chakma further said that many years have passed, and accordingly, the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts have not yet been fully integrated into the mainstream of the country. He said that our government has given more importance to this issue and is working towards that goal. Ambassador Supradeep Chakma said that we are taking the issue of security very seriously. In fact, no major accidents have occurred in the hilly region. Moreover, we are very conscious about the safety of foreigners. Everyone continues to move freely and roam freely in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. He said that in mid-April this year, some ambassadors visited the Chittagong Hill Tracts and enjoyed the immense beauty of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Thousands of tourists from different places have come to visit the Chittagong Hill Tracts during this Eid and Puja Parvan, and alternative arrangements have been made for their accommodation. There has been no problem. We pay special attention to the movement of foreigners, thinking about the safety of foreign citizens. That does not mean that the hilly region is a hot area where there is absolutely no movement of people. Advisor Supradeep Chakma said that the Bangladesh government is working relentlessly to create an environment for a peaceful election in the country.
During the bilateral discussions between the two, the implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Agreement, strengthening the security system in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and development of the education system came up. Expressing hope that the British government will continue to support the development of Bangladesh as always, Advisor Supradeep Chakma said that this government is working to build a Bangladesh free of discrimination. He expressed hope that the British government has always been by his side in the development of Bangladesh and will continue to be so in the future. He expressed gratitude and thanks to the British government on behalf of Bangladesh for this.
During the discussion with the British High Commissioner in Dhaka, Ms. Sarah Cooke, among others, Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Md. Abdul Khalek, Additional Secretary Pradeep Kumar Mahottam ndc, Joint Secretary Konkan Chakma, Private Secretary (Deputy Secretary) to the Advisor Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman, APS (Senior Assistant Secretary) to the Advisor on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Subhashish Chakma, Second Secretary Political of the British High Commission in Dhaka Ms. Ellie Boot and other officials were present.
