38 Journalists Received DRU literature award and author award

A jury board has been formed to recognize writers who are members of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

This year 3 people received DRU Sahitya Award. Muhammad Mofazzal (Financial Express) in Literary (Story/Novel), Hasan Hafeez (Newspaper) in Kavya (Poetry/Rhyme) and Helimul Alam Biplab (Daily Star) in Mananshil (Essay and Research) category.

Yugantar’s chief reporter and writer Masood Karim won the author award in the contemplative category for his book ‘Lanthan Hate Kantak Pathe’ written on various important stories of his journalistic career. In the same category, Haq Farooq Ahmed, the senior reporter of Jugantar, received the author award for the book ‘Bangla Rock Metal’ written on the history of band music in Bangladesh. Apart from this, 33 other journalists have received the writer’s award.

Bangla Academy Director General Kavi Muhammad Nurul Huda was present as the chief guest and handed over the prizes to the winners at the DRU Sagar-Runi Auditorium on Tuesday morning. Winners are given cash, crests and certificates and honorees are given crests and certificates.

President of Dhaka Journalist Union (DUJ) Sohel Haider Chowdhury and GM (Public Relations) of US-Bangla Airlines spoke. Kamrul Islam.

DRU President Mursalin Nomani presided over and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel moderated the welcome speech by Publicity and Publication Secretary Kamal Uddin Suman. DRU Vice President Dipu Sarwar, Joint Editor Moinul Ahsan, Office Secretary Kawsar Azam, Sports Secretary Md. Mahbubur Rahman, entertainment secretary Mohammad Naeemuddin, welfare secretary Tanveer Ahmed and executive member Kiran Sheikh.
