Allegations have been made of making fake orphans in Darus Sannah Ebtedayi Qoumi Madrasa and Orphanage in Panchbibi, Rahmatpur (Rambhadrapur) of Jaipurhat and taking government allocation. However, the authority has withheld the government allocation of the orphanage for the current year after coming to know about the matter. According to sources, two thousand taka per month is allocated by the government to the orphan students of the orphanage. Out of this, 1 thousand 600 taka for food, 200 taka for clothes, 200 taka for medicine and other things. For allocation in the current financial year, the authorities of private orphanages in the district submit the list of names of orphans to the office of the social service officer of their respective upazilas. The office of Upazila and City Social Services Directorate after verifying the list sent to the concerned department for approval. On February 27 of this year, 49,68,000 was allocated against 414 students of 26 private orphanages in five upazilas of the district from the Directorate of Social Services.

Out of this, 5 lakh 16 thousand taka has been allocated for 43 orphan students of Panchbibir Rahmatpur (Rambhadrapur) Durus Sannah Ebtedayi and Hafezia Madrasa and Orphanage. Recently, the director of the orphanage, Abdul Khalek, told the students that if someone comes to the madrasa and asks about your father, say that your father is not alive. These words of the teacher caused a negative reaction among the students whose father is alive. Those students returned home and told their parents. Some parents have doubts about it. After that they found out about fake orphans. Later they reported the matter to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (the newly transferred UNO Barman Hossain). UNO directed the upazila social service officer to look into the matter. After that, the Upazila Social Service Officer sent the concerned Union Parishad to verify the death certificate of the father of the orphan students of that Madrasah and Orphanage. Sohel Rana of Bhuidoba village, the father of the student of that madrasa, said that government allocation was taken in my son’s name by showing me dead.

I was surprised by such activity. Rahmatpur (Rambhadrapur) Darus Sannah Ebtedayi Qoumi Madrasa and Orphanage President Yunus Ali Mondal said, the signature shown in the list is not mine as it was submitted to the Upazila Social Service Office. I don’t know anything about the death certificate of the students father. Meanwhile, Muhatim Abdul Khalek said, I gave the list of names of orphans to the social service office. But I don’t know how the death certificates came about. Secretary of Bagzana Union Parishad Khairul Islam said that after checking the death certificates of the fathers of the students of the orphanage, the fathers of 32 of the 45 students were found to be alive. Union Parishad has sent the report in this regard to Upazila Social Service Office. Bagzana Union Parishad (UP) chairman Nazmul Hossain said that now birth and death certificates can be verified online. Social service officials could verify the death certificates online before approving the list of orphans. The negligence of the concerned officials has been proved. Imam Hasim, deputy director of Social Services Department, said that the investigation of this incident is ongoing. Initially, I heard about 25 fake orphans in that madrasa and orphanage. Several students have fathers alive. But they have been made orphans with fake death certificates. Therefore, the allocation in the name of orphans of that madrasa for the current year has not been exempted.
