The “LGED Adaptation Award 2024” was held today at the Kamrul Islam Siddique Auditorium, LGED Headquarters, organized by the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CReLIC) under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming (CRIM) project.

The event aimed to make climate-resilient knowledge more accessible, recognize engineers for innovative ideas and best practices, and provide opportunities to share experiences while fostering interest in climate change adaptation.

A total of 34 participants from LGED Headquarters and field offices submitted papers across three competition categories. An evaluation committee comprising representatives from LGED, development partners, and other departments awarded prizes in three categories: Innovative Ideas (9 winners), Lessons Learned (5 winners), and Best Practices (6 winners).

LGED Additional Chief Engineer and CReLIC Director Kazi Golam Mustafa, in his welcome speech, emphasized that if CReLIC is established as a knowledge hub within LGED, it will serve as a “Centre of Excellence”, preserving and managing climate change knowledge and experience in a structured way to support project planning and implementation. Additional Chief Engineer Md. Belal Hossain was also present.

LGED Chief Engineer Mr. Javed Karim presided over the event and distributed crests, certificates, and prize money to the winners. He highlighted that young and experienced engineers will complement each other in addressing climate change challenges, turning innovative ideas into sustainable projects through knowledge, experience, and skills.
