The mobile court has seized 10 tons of banned polythene in a joint operation of Tangail Department of Environment and District Administration. The banned polythene was seized in a raid in front of Khudirampur Shubo Hotel in Kartia Union of Sadar Upazila on Bangabandhusetu-Dhaka highway on Tuesday, October 3. The mobile court was presided over by District Administration Executive Magistrate Sultana Razia. Zamir Uddin, Deputy Director of Tangail District Environment Department, said that on Tuesday afternoon, on the basis of secret information, a raid was conducted in a covered van in front of Khudirampur Shubo Hotel and Restaurant of Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the joint initiative of the district administration and the Department of Environment. At that time, 10 tons of banned polythene was seized from that covered van. The mobile court also imposed a fine of Tk 20,000 on the driver of the covered van. He said that the covered van filled with polythene was going to Rajshahi.

He said, during the operation, Tangail District Administration Executive Magistrate Sultana Razia, Assistant Director Sajib Kumar Ghosh were present. Tuhin Alam, assistant director of the Department of Environment, served as the prosecutor of the mobile court. At this time, members of the district police were present and provided full cooperation. He also said that such operations against illegal polythene factories in Tangail district will continue to protect the environment.
