Masud Saidi, former Chairman of Zianagar Upazila, son of former Pirojpur-1 MP and Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Allama Delawar Hossain Saidi, and current Jamaat-e-Islami-nominated MP candidate for Pirojpur-1, has called for the establishment of a worker-friendly and God-fearing government.
Speaking at a labor rally organized by the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Federation, Pirojpur District Branch, under the theme “Workers and Employers Unite to Rebuild the Nation”, Masud Saidi said that workers are one of the key driving forces of the country. However, they are subjected to various forms of exploitation and discrimination. “As a result, while owners often profit, workers see no improvement in their lives,” he stated.
Saidi emphasized the need for a dignified life for workers — one where they receive fair wages in a competitive market, enough to support a decent standard of living including food, education, and healthcare. He stressed the importance of safe working environments, compensation for workplace injuries, and the right to voice concerns regarding professional issues. “We expect the government to play its rightful role in achieving these goals. For that, we need a worker-friendly, God-fearing government,” he asserted.
Criticizing the existing wage structures, he pointed out that many workers earn so little that they are forced to rely on overtime, and even then, overtime pay is often not provided properly — calling it inhumane. “We want an end to this inhuman life for our workers,” he said.
Masud Saidi further added that true societal transformation will occur when workers and employers stand united. “Workers and employers are complementary to one another. Only through their joint efforts can we build a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous Bangladesh — free from exploitation and inequality.” Referring to the student-worker-people uprising expected in July–August, he called for continued unity and cooperation to realize the dream of a just Bangladesh.
The rally and gathering were presided over by Md. Siddikul Islam, President of the Pirojpur District Labour Welfare Federation, and conducted by Al Amin Sheikh. Chief guest was Principal Tofazzal Hossain Farid, with special guests including Alhaj Masud Saidi, former district president Mohammad Zahirul Haque, district advisor Abdur Razzak Sheikh, municipal advisor Ishaq Ali Khan, and Pirojpur Sadar Upazila advisor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman.
