Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has ordered to take strict measures to clear the encroachment of Arial Bill. He said that the land that has been occupied in the name of housing should be recovered. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to stop the extraction of soil by dredgers. He said that no land grabbers can enter the Arial Bill and filling of ponds should be stopped. He also directed to repair and re-excavate the canals of Beel and demolish the illegal brick kilns.
Advisers on Water Resources and Environment and Housing and Public Works visited Arial Bill on Monday. While talking to the journalists there, the environmental advisor said these things.
The environment adviser said strict action would be taken against those who seized the bill using political power. This bill, which runs through the four upazilas of Srinagar, Sirajdikhan, Dohar and Nawabganj, will be freed from encroachment and will be given utmost importance to conservation.
Housing adviser Adilur Rahman Khan also said strict action would be taken against encroachers. He warned that no housing should be allowed to be built on Bill’s land and Bill must be protected from illegal land grabbers.
Earlier in the morning, these two advisors of the government participated in the presentation and briefing related to Arial Bill at the Srinagar Upazila Parishad and listened to the officials of various government institutions and the local people of various classes and professions.
Secretary of Ministry of Water Resources Nazmul Ahsan, Director General of Department of Environment, Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board, Director General of Wetlands and Water Development Board, Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj, Superintendent of Police, civil society and students were present in the exchange meeting.
