Education scholarships, financial grants, compensation and insurance cheques have been distributed to students in Laksam, Comilla.
On Thursday , at the Gana Udyog Girls High School and College grounds, the chief guest was Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, head of the Electoral Reforms Commission.
The Wage Earners Welfare Board authorities of the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment handed over cheques worth crores of taka at a ceremony presided over by Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Earners Welfare Board and conducted by Laksam Upazila Executive Officer Kausar Hamid.
Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Monir Haider (Consensus Building), Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor with the rank of State Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fayez Ahmed Tayyab, ADC Education and ICT of the Comilla District Administration Md. Touhidul Islam, among others, also spoke at the event.
Tajima Hossain Majumder, Monoharganj Upazila Executive Officer Fahria Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police Laksam Circle Soumen Majumder, Monoharganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nasrin, Laksam Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sifatun Nahar, Laksam Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazneen Sultana, teachers, guardians and officials of various schools and colleges of Laksam-Monoharganj were present as special guests.
At the event, 21 SSC students were given scholarships of Tk 27,500, 9 HSC students were given scholarships of Tk 34,000, and 6 expatriate families who died abroad were given financial assistance of Tk 1.8 million. In addition, three expatriate families were given insurance claims of Tk 2.4 million and two deceased families were given compensation of Tk 7.2 million 14,553.
