He also said that more details of the case will be known after the investigation. Although no clues have been recovered so far in the attack, it can take a dramatic turn at any time. It is believed that a gang angry at the commission business of drugs, women and brokers in the guise of illegal clinic business in Kushtia has carried out the attack. According to relevant sources, on Monday afternoon, May 5, 2024, a group of women attacked Dr. Sharmin Sultana, the owner of the Lab Care Clinic, in front of the Life Care Clinic in the Courtpara area of the city. The attackers beat her and tried to drag her away. Police and journalists rushed to the scene after receiving the news. At that time, the attackers said that the doctor had taken about half a crore taka from them in the name of giving them a job, allowances and land. Now they do not want to have any contact for seven months. They have come to take the doctor away to collect the money. Kushtia Model Police Station took Dr. Sharmin Sultana, along with some women who participated in the attack, into custody from the scene. Both parties were released on bail that night. The next day, Dr. Masud Rana, the husband of Dr. Sharmin Sultana, filed a case against 20/25 unknown people, mentioning the names of the three attacking women. Md. Shamim, owner of Life Care Clinic located on Arjundas Agarwala Road in Kotpara, told the correspondent, “For the past three years, Dr. Sharmin Sultana has been practicing in my clinic. Two years ago, Dr. Sharmin Sultana herself opened a clinic. Whenever we called, she came here and saw patients. That day, a patient named Sumi came to see the doctor with a prescription, so we called Dr. Sharmin Sultana. After she came to my clinic, a group of organized women led by Sumi attacked the doctor. A person involved in the clinic business, who did not want to be named, said that Dr. Sharmin Sultana took a medical technologist named Milan as a partner while setting up the Lab Care Clinic. A few days later, Milan got involved in a crime against women at the clinic. After a report in this regard was published on a TV channel, Dr. Sharmin Sultana bought out Milan’s partnership and said goodbye. Besides, after the attack on May 5, the accused Sumi, who was detained, showed the documents to the journalists present at the Kushtia Model Police Station to send money to the Bikash number. The journalists present said that the name of a person named “Sharmin Sultana Pushpa” was mentioned there. The conscious circles believe that if the investigation is carried out keeping in mind these three issues, the cat in the bag will come out. In this case, it is necessary to investigate whether a third party is taking advantage of poor women like Sumi. Two days after the aforementioned incident, doctors in Kushtia formed a human chain, strongly condemning the incident and demanding punishment for the culprits. Kushtia Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mosharraf Hossain told the correspondent that the police are trying to uncover the truth through a speedy investigation of the case.
