A case has been filed in the Barisal Metropolitan Magistrate Court against Syed Ashiq Chowdhury for illegally vandalizing the under-construction Beauty Supermarket building in South Chawkbazar, Barisal city.
On Tuesday (May 20), Md. Rakib Mallick, a partner of Beauty Super Market, filed the case as the plaintiff. Case No. 12/25 (Kotwali).
Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Nurun Nazneen has ordered the officers-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station to investigate the complaint and submit a report.
According to the case, the developer company signed a contract with accused Syed Ashiq Chowdhury’s father Zulfiqar Ali Chowdhury for the construction of the beauty supermarket. However, the land owner cheated the developer company and gave the deed of donation in the name of his son Syed Ashiq Chowdhury and his daughter Kamrunnahar Chowdhury.
Claiming ownership of the land with the said donation document, Syed Ashiq Chowdhury illegally vandalized the 10-story building under construction of the developer organization with 30/35 armed cadres on May 9 and 10. He vandalized the 1st floor roof and ground floor of the under-construction market and looted the property. The developer owners have been cited in the case as having suffered a loss of Tk 25 lakh.
A case has been filed against the defendant Syed Ashiq Chowdhury and 30/35 unidentified persons under sections 427/380/506(2) of the Penal Code and Sections 4 and 5 of the Offences Disrupting Law and Order (Speedy Trial) Act, 2002.
The plaintiff’s lawyer Saidur Rahman Sohel said that Md. Rakib Mallick, the developer partner of Beauty Supermarket, has filed a case against Syed Ashiq Chowdhury, alleging that he illegally vandalized the building under construction of Beauty Supermarket and looted the goods. The court took cognizance of the complaint and ordered the Kotwali Model Police Station to investigate.
