Tangail Correspondent: A woman and a child died in a bus-truck collision on the Tangail-Mymensingh regional highway. The accident took place at noon on Tuesday, December 26 in Chatipara area of Bangra Union of Kalihati Upazila.
The deceased are – Hiraman Bewa (70) of Ghatandi Sialkol village of Bhuanapur upazila and Nagbari village of Narandia union of Kalihati upazila. Sohail Mia’s son Abdullah (11). It is known that they were passengers of CNG.
According to the police and locals, a passenger bus of Sagardighi Paribahan was going from Tangail to Kalihati when a Tangail-bound sand truck overtook the CNG. A bus and a truck collided. In the collision, the sand truck overturned and fell on top of the CNG. 5 passengers in the CNG were seriously injured. Two of the injured were taken to the Kalihati Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared them brought dead.
Kalihati police station officer in-charge (OC) Kamrul Farooq said that two people were killed in the incident. One of them is a woman and the other is a child. The remaining three have been sent to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.
