Former President Donald Trump again made offensive comments about US Vice President Kamala Harris. In a speech given at the largest annual conference of black journalists in the United States on Wednesday, Trump claimed that Kamala had not brought up her black identity before. But suddenly he is identifying himself as black.
In the upcoming presidential election of the United States, there is a glimpse of a fierce competition between the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and the Republican candidate Donald Trump. In the meantime, both have started campaigning vigorously.
At the conference on Wednesday, Trump said that Kamala Harris always claimed to be an Indian. He has brought forward only the Indian tradition. I didn’t know he was black until he identified himself as black. Now he has become black and wants to be known by this identity.
According to a Reuters report, when Trump was speaking, about 1,000 visitors were present at the conference. Many of them were making ironic gestures.
Trump pointed to Kamala and said, “I really don’t know, is he Indian or black?” But you know that I respect both these identities. But he (Kamla) definitely doesn’t do that. Because he was Indian from the beginning. Suddenly he changes tone and becomes a black man.
But Kamala Harris carries both Indian and Jamaican heritage. He has long identified himself as black and Asian. Kamala is even the first black and Asian American to serve as the Vice President of the United States.
This is not the first time. Earlier, Trump attacked Kamala on various personal issues. Also referred to him as anti-Semitic. But Douglas Craig Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, is Jewish. They got married in 2014. Douglas became the first Second Gentleman in the history of the United States when Kamala became Vice President in 2021. She is also the first in the country’s history to have a Jewish spouse of a president or vice president.
Meanwhile, recent polls show that Harris has nearly overtaken his rival, Republican Donald Trump. Now it remains to be seen whether Harris can finally beat Trump in the race for the White House.
