Patuakhali’s Galachipa in a family has been living an inhumane life under the open sky after the trees fell on their house.
The incident took place in Shanti Bagh Ekaka of Ward No. 3 of Upazila Municipal Council, due to continuous heavy rains and strong winds of adverse weather on Friday night, large raintree, mehguni, coconut trees next to the house were uprooted, in which a house was completely destroyed and Another house was partially damaged. It is known on the ground that the helpless family could not save any household goods. At that time, the widowed woman, Monira Begum, her one daughter, who was living in the house, rescued them unharmed by the shouts of a son.
One of the affected families is the residence of Manira Begum, the wife of Md. Mostofa Howlader, who was killed in lightning, and who was allotted a government house 6/7 years ago during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Another affected family is the homestead of Abdul Ali.
It is known that Galachipa upazila administration is keeping an eye on the incident, Khokon Chandra Das, the officer of the upazila project implementation office, said over the phone. Besides, it will be seriously presented in the monthly law and order meeting.
Municipal Mayor Md. Ahsanul Haque Tuhin and a team of fire service and civil defense and president of the press club at the scene. Khalid Hossain Milton, journalist Zillur Rahman Jewel, visited. The affected families strongly demanded the administration and government to take quick steps to repair the damaged houses and remove the trees.
