The government has declared a general holiday tomorrow on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the matter to Jago News on Sunday (August 4) afternoon.

Meanwhile, the government has issued an evening law (curfew) in all departmental headquarters, city corporations, municipalities, industrial areas, district headquarters and upazila headquarters, including Dhaka metropolis, from 6 pm on Sunday until further notice.

This was informed in a press release of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The anti-discrimination student movement has called for an all-out non-cooperation movement from Sunday to demand the resignation of the government including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There have been reports of many deaths due to violence in different parts of the country around this programme. In this context, a round-the-clock curfew has been issued from this evening.

Earlier, when violence and conflict broke out around the quota reform movement, the government decided to deploy the army by imposing a curfew on the night of July 19. Then there was a general holiday from 21st to 23rd July. On July 24 and 25, government offices are running on a limited basis.
