Anwar Sadat Jahangir: Vice-Chancellor of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam said that various institutions including National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University, schools, colleges and others have been established in this Trishal around Nazrul.
Various buildings, including university halls, have been named after Nazrul’s creations. His poems, songs, and poems are etched in the minds of people. That is my wish, that the entire appearance of Mymensingh becomes Nazrul-like.
The Vice-Chancellor made these remarks in his speech as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the three-day Nazrul Birth Anniversary Celebrations held in Trishal, Mymensingh on Tuesday afternoon. The Mymensingh District Administration, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, organized the event to mark the 126th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The chief guest said, “I have come to understand the greatness of Nazrul, the vastness of his creation, even more after taking charge of Nazrul University. This great man was gifted with the talent of the Creator. Nazrul’s movement inspires the entire nation.”
We must spread Nazrul’s writings and works everywhere, in cities and villages. We must make arrangements to leave our mark in every important place. Only then will a Nazrul-filled Mymensingh be built through the efforts of people from all walks of life.
Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Mufidul Alam said, “I didn’t know that the people of Trishal love Nazrul so much. So many people came even in the rain. Both UNO and I are new here. We have no experience in the love of the people here for Nazrul. I am impressed by the love of the people here for Nazrul. Nazrul’s birth anniversary deserves to be organized at the national level here. I hope to organize a national level Nazrul’s birth anniversary in Trishal next year with the joint efforts of everyone.”
Trishal Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari said, “The presence of millions of people has enriched our program. I am hopeful that national-level programs will be held in Trishal in the future.”
In his memorial speech, poet and Nazrul researcher Rezauddin Stalin said, “These Trishal residents fought the most to establish Nazrul. Even though he was not born in the land of Trishal, we believe that Nazrul was born here. The government has gazetted Nazrul as a national poet. It is necessary to establish a Nazrul research institute in Trishal to study the poet who sang the songs of the masses.”
Memorial speaker Nazrul researcher AFM Hayatullah said, “I have asked for the system that is necessary for me, that is how Nazrul rebelled. His revolution has not stopped yet, it is ongoing. The practicality of poetry has not stopped yet. But the sad thing is that many of Nazrul’s things are in the name of many, we should come out of this.
In his speech as the president, Deputy Commissioner Mufidul Alam said, “A huge chapter of the poet’s life is connected to Mymensingh. His creation cannot be forgotten.” He thanked everyone for their cooperation in this event.
Mymensingh District Superintendent of Police Kazi Akhtar ul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lutfun Nahar and others were present as special guests.
