Sohail Ahad, Brahmanbaria Correspondent : “There is no alternative to running for a healthy life” The Half Marathon competition was organized by Brahmanbaria Runners Community.
The competition was held in three categories from Brahmanbaria Government College on Friday (February 10) morning. Men and women of different ages participated in it. Organizers and participants said, “There is no alternative to running for a healthy life. Those concerned said that there will be a big competition in the coming days. The half marathon competition started from Brahmanbaria Government College on a winter morning in Magher, before the light of dawn broke through the thick fog. Competitors from different districts of the country including Russia, Japan, India, Nepal gathered at Brahmanbaria Government College premises to participate in this competition. Later, the half marathon in 21 km, 10 km and 5 km categories started from the government college premises. Later, it will travel to Vijayanagar through Simna-Brahmanbaria road via Shimrailkandi of the city and again come to the finishing point at Titas Bridge on Simna-Brahmanbaria road. The participants said that there is no alternative to running for a healthy body and a strong mind. They think that such arrangements are more necessary.
Golam Rahat Tofail, a runner from Sylhet said, I have participated in marathons in different parts of the country. We are very happy to participate here. If we are mentally healthy then there is no alternative to running. That’s why we all need to run or walk every morning. Moshiur Rahman Palash, who comes from the southern district of Patuakhali, said, I have participated in the competition for the first time. Moreover, there is a saying that “If you want to be healthy, you must run. That’s why I started running. Feels better to participate here. In the future, he tried to take himself to the domestic and international level. A woman runner named Farzana Khanom said, “For the first time in my life, I participated in a 5 km race and I became the first among women. Every person should run to keep the body fit and healthy. But this time the competition had trouble breaking down a bit on the road. Hope the organizers will consider this in the future. But this arrangement was good. We hope that such events will be held more and more.
The chief guest of the program, Professor Bibhutibhushan Debnath, Principal of Brahmanbaria Government College, said that a mini marathon competition was held in Brahmanbaria. This competition has been held in Brahmanbaria for the first time at the international level. Because runners from different countries and also us from different districts of the country have participated in it. Such arrangement will play a role in keeping people healthy. Half marathon was held today and in future we expect full marathon competition to be held in Brahmanbaria. Organizers of the event said, “Besides the participation of women, the participation of runners from different countries is very positive. In the coming days, more large-scale arrangements will be made to stay healthy.
Admin of Brahmanbaria Runners Community Ali Ahad Ratan said, We are happy that we have been able to organize half marathon for the first time in Brahmanbaria. Human running is one of the ways for our human health. Our organization is to convey such information to everyone. In future I will try to organize Alta or Full Marathon competition in Brahmanbaria with everyone’s cooperation.
Brahmanbaria Sadar Traffic Inspector Ukhdas Gupta said that all preparations were made by the police. The road is closed to traffic just before the start of the competition so that the contestants do not face any problem. Later, the police performed duty at various places on the Simna-Brahmanbaria road through Shimrailkandi in the city. As contestants from different countries participated, the police also worked for their security.
A total of 250 competitors participated in the half marathon competition. At the end of the competition, the guests gave the prizes to the winners.
