Small cold storages will be built to preserve the vegetables produced by farmers, said Agriculture and Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He said, there will be no syndicate in agriculture. Farmers will be able to directly deliver paddy to the godown. This time the price of paddy has also been increased compared to last time.
He said these things as the chief guest at a meeting with local farmers at the inauguration ceremony of Boro Bri Dhan-88 cutting in Dhelpir, Birol Upazila, Dinajpur on Thursday (May 8, 2025) afternoon.
The advisor said, farmers do not get a fair price for their products. Middlemen get a price. We have made arrangements so that farmers get a fair price for their products.
Addressing the agricultural officials, he said that the entire amount allocated for farmers during the field day should be spent among the farmers. No corruption can be done here.
He also said that litchi and mangoes are already exported abroad from various districts of the country including Dinajpur. This time, measures have been taken to export jackfruit abroad along with litchi and mangoes. He advised the Barendra officials to reduce the price of water and stop corruption.
Addressing the farmers, he said that litchi should not be cultivated on paddy fields. AC coaches will be arranged to send Dinajpur litchi to Dhaka. Advising them not to spray excessive pesticides on litchis, he said that pesticides should be used as advised by the agricultural officials.
In response to a question regarding drugs, he said that drugs are not just a problem for the poor, it is a problem for the whole country. People should be vigilant and awareness should be raised in this regard.

At that time, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam, Rangpur DIG Md. Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Majid Ali, Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Police Md. Marufat Hussain, Acting Deputy Director of Dinajpur District Agricultural Extension Department Krishibid Md. Zafar Iqbal and officials of the concerned departments were present.
Later in the afternoon, he spoke to the Rangpur Divisional Commissioner, DIG of Rangpur Range of Police and all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police under Rangpur Division on the overall situation of law and order and agriculture at the Dinajpur Circuit House auditorium.
At 4:30 pm, he exchanged views with officials of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority at the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute auditorium in Nashipur, Dinajpur Sadar Upazila. Then, at the same place, he also exchanged views with officials of departments and organizations under the Ministry of Agriculture of Rangpur Divisional Region.
Finally, he left Dinajpur for Dhaka from Saidpur Airport.
